    ive never seen a modded twin turbo supra please fill me in on why you did this and what parts are used

    • @TheProPilot
      @TheProPilot 5 месяцев назад

      Hey man! The first reason I did this - it's originally a twin turbo and the base reason for doing twins is to keep it twins! The next reason is because of exactly what you said: you've never seen it, eh? Perfect. I want to showcase what properly dialed in twins can do. Everyone and their mother has a big turbo Supra making 1kwhp. My (very loose) goal is to make 1kftlb on twins, something that's been said is simply not realistic. Today, it is with the G series turbochargers. Plus - holy crap that engine bay looks great stuffed full of 4" turbo intakes! Haha! 😏 The parts used is super extensive. But in this video you are seeing the old HKS twins setup with GTX2971R supercores dropped in their place. In this video, it's a completely stock 2JZ. Bone stock. And stock intake manifold. On that alone it made 735whp and 625ftlb at only 27psi on that older turbo arrangement. Today, the build is in progress... BlackLotus Twin Turbos - G25-660s (660hp turbos), a full 4" exhaust, 3.4L 10:1 stroker, BC 272 VVTi cams, and a Deepmotor twin injector single rail intake manifold. It's all going to be controlled by a Nexus R5 and DBW Bosch throttle. "A guy I know" made 870whp and 780ftlb at only 27psi on a BL Twins kit. He didn't have the stroker, 272 VVTi cams, or intake manifold.... This thing is going to do amazing things at 35psi!!!

    Respect from McKinney. Love those twins! Car looks like a blast. I need to get my coolant temp situation to stabilize.. she'll do a little creepin' on the gauge.. within acceptable ranges so I'm told (this will be my second summer with the completed build), but I see a few other Supra guys that swear by the 170-180 range even in the hot ambient temps... mine will knock off when I'm driving, but like city traffic or stopping for a few minutes in the Texas heat will see the temp climb to the 210-220 range. It's a little unnerving. Stock fan/shroud. New fan clutch. Koyo radiator, fresh coolant. Stay safe!

    • @TheProPilot
      @TheProPilot 5 месяцев назад

      Hey man! I've got a video that goes over my setup. But the biggest "mod" is to made sure you keep the under body plastic panels and the shroud that goes from the bottom of the radiator to the back of the bumper. There are two shrouds on the side of the same area. Make sure they are kept or make sometbing to replace them and seal the area off. Basically your car will get into a vortex state where the hot air from the engine bay gets sucked back into the inlet of the radiator. So shroud off the front of the inlet so the "mouth" of the bumper is where the air comes in. Also make sure your AC condenser looks good. Mine was 30 years old and nasty. So I put a new one in and THAT finished off any and all cooling questions. I've got a Koyo radiator, IS300 fans with the stock blades and a PHR shroud for it. All controlled by the AEM Infinity. Dude. It was 100°F one day and I had the AC cranking. Sitting in a parking lot waiting for food to come out of Texas Roadhouse. I sat for half an hour. 170°F and 200°F oil. When I pulled out of the parking lot and beat on it, the temp shot up to 205°F for a bit from the latent heat in the bay. The it dropped to 170°F and that was the end of it lol... Lemme dig up the fan video.

      @@TheProPilot Thanks for the food for thought! There are a couple differences in our setups, but I've also heard (possibly read on SupraForums) of the importance of the underbody plastics and optimization of airflow that those provide. I don't have them, so I've previously done some research on the Dewla Designz panels. Pretty pricey, but the more I think about the concept of how the air would flow, the more it makes sense. I did watch your other video and makes me want to try the paper towel test in front of the intercooler.. the other part- backside of the engine, near the windshield cowl has NO problem with airflow there.. that stock fan moves air quite well and sounds like a take doing so.. HA. So I really think my solution might be those plastics under the car. Thank you!

    This whole thing was shocking. If you read the CVR transcripts Captain Dubois was totally disengaged, making stupid mistakes, clearly didn't care too much and was basically phoning it in. Although the BEA didn't release the whole transcript officially, other outlets got hold of it - he was reading magazines in the cockpit, banter with the flight attendants (including turning down the heating in the cargo hold because someone had bought a load of meat), listening to music over dinner etc. Having only slept for one hour the night before, he then goes off to bed at a critical and highly dangerous stage of the flight (a storm which other flights had circled round and avoided) and possibly had his mistress (an off duty Air France cabin crew member) in the crew compartment with him. If he'd been on the flight deck when the AP disconnected, someone of his experience would have known precisely what to do and been able to immediately tell Bonin what _not_ to do. Everything would have been fine. The pitot tubes have constant inbuilt heating and were only frozen up for about a minute. The really sad and ironic thing is that F-GZCP was on its final flight before briefly going out of service to have upgraded pitot tubes fitted - Airbus were aware of issues, had issued an advisory and had new parts ready to go. Air France had them in stock.

    Just replace these yesterday, I was experiencing that rotten egg smell. But no check engine light or warning signs of a bad cat. regardless it’s good to replace these because of the amp, you don’t want to get water in there. Ratchet , 10mm, extension and long flat head is all that I needed . I saw a comment and another video on this topic about doing it with out unhooking the bumper. Don’t even bother. No need to take off the amp or carpet just use a long flat head especially for the amp side.to unhook the bumper it’s just 2 10mm on each side by the wheel well and trust me doing this with make the job 10000 time easier. It would have saved me 10-15min that I spent trying to do without unhooking the bumper.Haven’t had a chance To drive the car to see if the egg smell went away. I will update with a comment. Thanks for the video though!! Very helpful

    They were making it difficult because on some models it’s on the same side as the amp. And let’s water in through the flap when it gets worn out. I didn’t think it was a common issue with Lexus until I started doing more research myself. Had similar thing happen to mine on my Lexus RCF. Only thing is on RCF you do have to remove the liner to get to the amp and the flap is also on the same side as the amp unfortunately. So now I know I need to buy a new amp and a new flap lol. Or repair my amp I should say. For RCF it runs 600 to repair 1 year warranty. Other option is refurbished one at 1000 one year warranty. Or 22-2500 for a new one. Thanks for the good info and part.
